FAQ:

Q: Do you make all of these inkblots or are you pulling them from some website somewhere?
A: All posts are my original work unless otherwise stated; there are occasionally "Guest Blots".

Q: Are inkblots used in Psychoanalysis anymore?
A: The short answer: Not Often.
A: The long answer: Projective testing (the classification of tests to which inkblots belong) was largely popular in the mid 20th century and was based on the Freudian idea of projection (the notion that an individual will reveal abnormalities "projecting" their inner feelings into their environment and visible to mental health professionals through their description & interpretation of subjective media ). After data on inkblot responses was subject to statistical analysis it was discovered that what was seen had little or no correlation with any psychological disorders. However, some psychologists (usually older psychologists) still use the test for whatever reason and many who do claim that the test helps them in some way even if not proven to.

Q: I see _____ in one of your inkblots, what does that mean?
A: Nothing

Q: I see _____ in all of your inkblots, what does that mean?
A: Nothing

Q: I don't see anything in your inkblots, what does that mean?
A: Also Nothing

Q: All I see in your inkblots is poke'mons, what does this mean?
A: You were likely born sometime after 1986 and your parents had some expendable income.

Q: y u no enable replies?
A: Because the wizard that designed tumblr didn't tell me that you couldn't enable replies on a "side blog" and IBotD happens to be a side blog.

Q: Do you record/psychoanalyze all responses?
A: I do record the responses but only for statistical analysis purposes; I do not psychoanalyze anybody from their response(s).

Q: Can you psychoanalyze me?
A: Not legally.

Inkblot of the Day #118

Instructions: Tell me what you see.

Apology: Those of you who follow this blog regularly noticed that there was no inkblot for yesterday; a streak of 117 every day was not broken until then and I assure you it was for good reason. In order to make it up to you I will post two additional blots this evening and I have decided to declare every Thursday Double-Blot Thursday and will be posting two inkblots each Thursday in honor of Thor (for whom the day was named: Thor’s-day).
